The Tail of the Dragon, also known as Deals Gap, is an experience that every rider should do. 318 curves in 11 miles that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Curves, switchbacks and drop off's are only part of this challenging ride and it isn't for the inexperienced rider. We want to do it again but this time have the movie camera mounted to get every single twist and turn. Zoom in on B&C for the close up.

A few miles past the official end of the ride will put you by a scenic river where you can pull off and unwind before you turn around and do it again heading the other way. Below the map shown here is a street view of the starting and resting points. (depending on which direction you come in from of course) You can also click on the little white arrows of the street view to move along the road. If you have enough time on your hands, I bet you could complete the entire 11 miles clicking on the map.... in about a week. I wonder if anyone has ever done this before............? Stay on your side of the road and watch out for those truck drivers.

Here is another link that will give you a split view. When the page fully loads, click on the top left hand corner of the top map to hide panel. Using the little guy in the bottom map, you can position yourself along the route to get a street level view. As you pan around in the top map, you'll see the little guy in the bottom turning with you. Have fun with it. http://maps.google.com/maps?cbp=11,0.47014195053979496,,0,-3.24534161490683&cbll=35.465972,-83.919849&ll=35.465972,-83.919849&layer=c (if you move the little man to the state border, you can see the welcome sign for Tennessee. Click on the little white arrow to cross the border on the road and you'll see the state change in the little white box)
